A touching story...
Onondaga Road is the proud recipient of a fascinating collection which was donated to us by an upstanding community member. Concetta "Connie" Tuori was the daughter of Italian immigrants, born in 1927, who dedicated her life to teaching and traveling:
"She received a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees in history from Syracuse University. Connie's urge to travel started at an early age. She would tell everyone that if wanderlust was inherited, the trait was passed to her from her father... As a young child she listened to the stories of his travels and dreamed of doing the same. After she graduated from college, she traveled to Italy and France. A lifetime dream of traveling the world began at a time when a young woman traveling alone was unheard of. For the next 60+ years she pursued her dream, traveling to several countries on all seven continents. In addition to souvenirs, photos and slides, Connie collected hundreds of dolls from many of the countries..."
Connie traveled the world meeting people and gaining understanding and appreciation for all mankind. As a teacher, she had always hoped her doll collection would stay intact and would prompt conversation and promote cultural learning. Here at Onondaga Road, we are grateful to have her doll collection in our library and hope to share the cultural compassion that each doll brings. We are grateful to the Tuori family for sharing the doll collection with us!

Next week's Positivity Project character strength is perseverance. People who persever finish what they start, despite obstacles and they never give up. It is fitting that we learn about this character strength during Dr. Martin Luther King's remberance week.
A few updates...
Due to the current health related circumstances, we have decided to forgo this year's BINGO party (January) and Enrichment Day (February) at Onondaga Road. We do, however, plan to have a modified version of our annuay Science Fair for grades 3 and 4, so be on the lookout for more information to come home in the weeks ahead.
Yearbook Orders
An information flyer was sent home for you to place an order for this year's Onondaga Road School yearbook online. Please know that all ordering must be done online, as there is no paper order form. Thanks to our PTA for organizing this and for the creation of the yearbook.
Dates to remember...
- Monday, January 17 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and there is no school.
