Greetings from Onondaga Road!

 Welcome April!

I hope everyone had a nice spring break week.  Welcome back, and let’s make it a great month!

PTA Meets Next Week
Here is the link for our monthly PTA meeting.  We will meet via Zoom on Tuesday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m., and all are welcome!

Pizza with Police
Congratulations to Mrs. Gauthier’s 4th grade and Mrs. Mancabelli’s 2nd grade classes for winning this week’s pizza luncheon with our School Resource Officer.  The students asked great questions and used  pleasant lunch manners.  Thanks to Officer Skardinski for hosting, and to the Pies Guys for donating pizza for our special lunches.

Recognizing Safe Bus Behavior
I would like to thank the students who ride the “train” bus to and from Onondaga Road.  They have tried especially hard to demonstrate respectful, responsible and safe behavior during their bus ride  this week!   Keep inspiring one another to do the right thing!

Earth Day

The West Genesee High School Building Community Club, formerly called WGHSP2, and the High School ECOS (Environmentally Conscious Organization of Students) have teamed up to celebrate Earth Day while also fundraising for green initiatives and P2 programs in the district. They are having an Earth Day apparel sale through Holy Shirt. There is an option to have the shirts delivered directly to your home. Here is the link to make a purchase if you are interested.

#PositivityInAction
This week we took the time to recognize and appreciate other people’s goodness.  This also gave us an opportunity to reflect upon our own good deeds.  Next week we will learn more about fairness as a positive character trait.  According to the Positivity Project, those who possess this trait “believe that all people have value. They approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect.”

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-22 school year opened virtually in December 2020 and continues through April 30, 2021. If you have a child ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall, please click here to start the virtual registration process and schedule a meeting.

Update for Grades 3 and 4
All in-school students in grades 3-8 (not fully remote students) will be taking the multiple choice portion of the NYS Math and ELA assessments in April and May.  Watch for a letter being sent home on Monday with more information and specific dates, and feel free to call me or your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Looking Way Ahead
Mark your calendar!  The Board of Education has approved two additional days for Memorial Day weekend.  As long as we do not have any more snow days (fingers crossed!), we will have no school on Friday, May 28 and Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Enjoy the sunshine! Sincerely, Jeannette Clark
