Greetings from Onondaga Road!

 We Appreciate Teachers!

Did you know that in 1953 Eleanor Roosevelt had made a request to Congress that Teacher Appreciation Day be nationally recognized?  It finally became official in 1980 and is often referred to as National Teachers' Day.  It is officially recognized on the first Tuesday of the first full week in May, so this year it is Tuesday, May 4.  I know you will agree with me when I say that our teachers at Onondaga Road are making a difference in this world.  I would like to extend my thanks and sincere appreciation to all of our teachers for all they do every single day!

First Grade Farm Day
You should have seen the first grade farmers and their herd of stuffed animals in the corn by the barn on the farm!  Yee-haw!  Learning to read is magical, and it’s a little tricky decoding r-controlled vowels, but a trip to the farm helped reinforce and practice these reading skills.  Take a look!

Pizza with Police

Mrs. Scicchitano’s Kindergarten class and Mrs. Davis’s second grade class enjoyed a pizza luncheon with Officer Skardinski on Tuesday.  The students had fun, asked great questions, and thanked Officer Skardinski for protecting our school and our neighborhood!  Thanks to Pies Guys for making great pizza and for generously giving it to us!

We’ve Got SPIRIT, Yes We Do!

We’ve got spirit, how about you?  Sports day, beach day, Wildcat Wednesday, tie-dye day…

PTA Meeting
Please join us for our monthly PTA meeting at 6:30 on Thursday, May 6.  It’s virtual, and you can join us from your own living room!  Here is the Zoom link!

#PositivityInAction
Next week we will focus on the character strength of leadership.  People who have this strength value each member of their group and inspire others to do their best.

Dismissal
Thanks for keeping our dismissal process running smoothly while we experienced a few changes this week to the bus runs.  I would like to especially thank our amazing bus drivers for the hard work they do, and for keeping our children safe.  In my professional opinion, I don’t think there is a more difficult job than driving a school bus full of children, and I do think our transportation department is second to none!
